This Monday, April 1st, will be the 91st anniversary of the death of Blessed Emperor Karl of Austria. In the picture below we see a procession with Blessed Karl’s coffin going around the house where he lived out the final months of his life. Empress Zita requested this ritual before his body was taken to the church because Blessed Karl loved to take a stroll in the evening around the house and gardens lent to him. It was her way to give her husband one last stroll after his suffering and death. Although he had lost his throne and was exiled without any money, he was happy to be with his family and to have time to pray. He joined his suffering with those of OUR LORD JESUS, and he frequently prayed CHRIST’s prayer at the Garden of Gethsemane: “THY will be done!” s Blessed Karl joined his suffering to those of CHRIST JESUS, may he soon be found worthy of canonization!
May you and I follow the examples of OUR LORD and SAVIOR, JESUS CHRIST, and Blessed Karl, so that on that last day when the trumpet shall sound we too may be raised to new life.
